Leadership Experiences

Fraternity and Sorority Life plays a critical role in cultivating an intentional and developmental experience for affiliated students across the various levels of membership during a student’s undergraduate career. Affiliated students engage in timely and relevant programs that promote learning opportunities across our fore core tenants for our educational curriculum: health & wellness, identity & leadership exploration, expectations of membership, and inclusive community building

FSL Summit
FSL Summit is a weekend-long leadership retreat in January for the highest level of leadership in the FSL community. Participants will engage in leadership development activities, have in-depth conversations about the critical issues facing fraternities & sororities on Northeastern’s campus, and leave the retreat with the skills and action plan to elevate the experience of their chapter or council.
FSL 101
Each semester, FSL 101 brings together the newest members of the FSL community to introduce them to Fraternity & Sorority Life at Northeastern. The curriculum equips all new members with the essential information, knowledge, and skills for personal success beyond the new member semester and beyond. FSL 101 deepens participants’ understanding of the FSL community and sets expectations for their time as a member of a fraternity/sorority and student leader.
FSL BLUEPRINT
In collaboration with LEAD360, FSL BLUEPRINT is a 8-week free leadership course, facilitated by the CSI staff, for emerging leaders in the FSL community. Through 8 weekly interactive sessions, participants will make new connections in the FSL community, enhance their leadership skills, and develop an action plan for how they want to leave a legacy in their chapter, council, and community at Northeastern!
FSL Event Monitor Training
Event Monitor Training is a comprehensive training for all chapter members that may serve as event monitors. This workshop provides participants the knowledge and skills to create a safe and responsible environment for events with alcohol.

Community Traditions

Community traditions and signature programs are key components of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Northeastern University. These events aim to bring the community together, raise funds for chapter philanthropies, and celebrate our students’ success.

Take It To The Floor & Greek Sing
Take It To The Floor and Greek Sing are the Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council’s bi-annual themed philanthropy dance competitions hosted by members, for members. Chapters from each council pair together with up to 50 members for each team in total to showcase choreography skills and skits. Only one team wins! The winners of these events donate ticket sales revenue to a philanthropic organization of their choice.
New England StepFest
Hosted by the Iota Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., New England StepFest is an annual step show event hosted on Northeastern’s campus since 1974. This event showcases the history and talent of the organizations in the National Pan-Hellenic Council on our yard, also known as the Divine 9. New England StepFest is the largest Step competition in the region!
FSL Awards
The Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards grant recognition to the many individuals and chapters who have achieved excellence in pursuit of our founding values of scholarship, service, leadership, and brotherhood/sisterhood. The awards are categorized into three groups: Individual Awards, Chapter Excellence Awards, and Chapter of the Year (by governing council). Students are recognized for their commitment to the community at the Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards each spring.
